VISIT LAKE GARDA

A FULL DAY PROGRAM

Desenzano, 9.00 a.m.: The guide will meet the group.

Desenzano stands in the middle of the gulf, in the southern area … Mediterranean vegetation, mild climate, fantastic landscape, mountains all around, … that is the first impact with Lake Garda!

We move to SIRMIONE, whose beauty has been described in the 1st century B.C., by Catullus, a Veronese Poet. Sirmione stands out from other lake resorts for its historical patrimony like the Medieval Scaliger Fortress, the local parish church, Saint Mary the Greatest, the smaller San Pietro in Mavino Chapel and the large and imposing Roman Villa, called: "Catullus’ Grottoes".

After the visit, departure for a private boat trip, to sail along the small peninsula and the archaeological site (the imposing Roman Villa, called: "Catullus’ Grottoes") will be visible. The western side of the lake will be reached and during the trip, some pictures can be taken of the beautiful “Island of Garda”, belonging to Cavazza Family.

From Gardone Riviera, by coach, up to Riva del Garda: driving along the western lake side, oleanders, agaves, maritime pines, cypresses, olive trees, citrus fruits, palm trees, bougainvillea, holm oaks, mountains falling directly into water … an amazing panorama can be enjoyed! All along we cross Gargnano, (Italian Social Republic headquarter), Limone and the arrival at Riva will be at about 1.30 for lunch.

Free time to stroll in the old town and, at about 4.00 p.m. departure to drive along the eastern lake side.

We cross Malcesine, Torri del Benaco, Garda, Bardolino (famous for wine production)

If time enough, stop in Lazise, surrounded by medieval walls. A castle dominates the charming setting.

We move to Peschiera del Garda (that took part of the famous “quadrilateral” together with Verona, Legnago and Mantua in 1848) and back to Desenzano.
